Punishment

I like how chean puts it very aptly, those who just do the bare minimum are rewarded by less work. Ironically, those who have proven that they are able to perform are being punished by having more work and shit to clear.

wth.

The more you try hard not to inconvenience people, the more people try to push the boundaries.

Suddenly lost all motivation again and the surge of feelings of injustice, the thought that I am just a tool to plug holes as and when the ceiling is leaking.

I am very tired and my body is nodding in unison. Insomnia is my best companion. Gimme a break.

Long awaited rest..redeemed!

I love running errands on week days. It seemed like the malls and streets belonged to me.Me and ES spent the Sun and Mon at Pan Pac Orchard. We became town kids for that 2 days. Quite fun as we know that we can watch late night movies without having to worry missing the last train back.

The hotel pool was virtually empty except for a gay couple who were just loitering at the edges of the pool with only their toes in the water. The other one basically posed along the sides of the pool showing off his steel pac bod. We had some good exercise and the indoor jacuzzi, sauna, steam room were all ours...for the 2 days!! cools.

Caught Harry Potter too, nothing fantastic as I always tell friends that I watch Harry coz the whole world is watching it and also coz ES loves fantasy films. Not really my movie genre though. Looking forward to Sandra Bullock's "The Proposal" and Ashton Kutcher's "Personal Effects".

Stole some time to visit Ikea and Courts too and broke my piggy bank on a Sealy Queen sized mattress and bed frame. Woohoooo. The sudden decision to buy a new bed was coz of the chiropractor's advice, time to put away my 17 years mattress and pillow away to make way for a better one like Sealy, Simmons or King Koil.

Hearing that the doc is encouraging me to spend money, my mum defended that my mattress is branded. I didn't even knew I had a branded mattress. She proclaimed with gusto that it is....... Rabbit Brand. Like LV, it's RB. You should see the doc's amused face. I told the doc to ignore her.

Anyway, I'm so awaiting the arrival of the bed. My back and shoulder ache is really getting on my nerves. It's either due to age or poor quality mattress. I'd rather believe it's the latter. Back to work tomorrow. oooh. Department Prawning & seafood dinner at Bottle Tree Park tomorrow! A good reason to embrace Thursday.

~nice room but the view is nothing compared to Pan Pac Marina. Oh, for UOB card members, you can get the premium deluxe room (or above) at $100 off the price for weekend staycation. So we paid $150 per night instead of usual $250. Also, dining at 10claymore restaurant in the hotel is at a 30% off for all days and meals with any credit card! amazing. We had our lunch buffet for $24 bucks each. Not too bad for pan pac. Food is not that fantastic though I must say. Service is superb. heh.~

~ my getaway theme: Pink. everything was in shades of pink, including my hello kitty bag which I won in hello kitty land in japan. ~

~ ES made these oatmeal choc chip cookies. The heart shaped ones failed according to him. The shape gave way to become normal round cookies. hah. ok la...good effort! i'm still trying to finish them...burp.~

~ the sucky view from outside my room... no view actually.haha.~

2nd Mini SteamBoat @ Opp Novena Church

Ahmad is my steamboat kaki. I'm a sucker for steamboats. Tom Yum especially. But only for GOOD tom yum steamboats. The Parkway Parade Roxy Square steamboat has opened a branch at the row of eateries opposite Novena Church.

I was just waiting to satisfy my craving and at the same time met up with ahmad. So sad that babu and maria couldn't join.

We paid about $25 each. It's ex for steamboat actually coz I don't think we ordered alot. But we are at the age that we are willing to pay for quality coz we definitely can't stomach quantity anymore.

Must-orders: Shrimp Dumplings, Seafood Tofu, fish glue.

They have a variety of signature cooked dishes as well, though we did not order that. Great for big gatherings.

~ the art of scraping fish glue~
~ wooohooo....I swear they have the BEST tom yum steamboat. seriously, i've never found a place comparable so far.~

~ the chicken soup was good at this branch. better than the one at roxy I feel.~
Awaiting the next steamboat outing with the gals. Hopefully...soon!

ION & NYDC @ Wheelock

Visited the new ION . It was an amazing new mall. They have a variety of shops, both mainstream and non-mainstream. Think you name it, they should have it.
As the new food restaurants are all flooded with curious peeps, me and jy decided to be boring and head to wheelock NYDC instead. It was a surprisingly nice dinner as the food was real yummy.
Mochi is really stuffing herself after her peak as you can see from my blog. Maybe was too deprived. Food is the meaning to my life.
~ Fowl Play. The batter is salty and oishii. never tasted something like this before. $7.50. Must-try!~

~ Those are dory fish fillet! One of the newbies in the meu..yep...rolled into cute little balls. the cream sauce was of the right creamy taste and consistency. thumbs up! I liked it so much that I koped 2 out of the 5 balls, and it wasn't even my order! ha~
More food posts coming up!

Xin Wang Taiwan Cafe @ Citylink Mall

Recce-d this place for dinner today. Wasn't too hungry and great choice since I can just order the taiwan finger food or snacks to share with ES. I think Xin Wang is making big bucks. First, HK cafes scattered around the island, now their Taiwan themed cafe trying to get a cut of the pie as well.

I mean if you have tried their HK Cafe finger food, you'll know that they are making mega profits. Their siew mais and dim sum dishes taste pretty cheapo like those from supermarts and just heated up and they charge like 3-4 bucks for it. But guess their winning formula is that though their food aren't finger licking good, but their prices are pretty competitive for cafes with a targeted audience who will fervently patronise them for cheap HK food.

Kim Gary is better in terms of quality.

Anyways, back to Taiwan food. Well, similar comments as above, making the right move to cater to HK and taiwanese food fans.

~ES loves this Oyster omelette. Maybe I've tasted better ones in taiwan..so i'm pretty immuned~
~ the salty chic pieces are good. They use chicken thigh meat which is more tender and palatable and also more fattening than breast meat. ~

~ would not recommend this taiwan style Yong Tau Foo. It's made up of different kinds of fish paste yong tau foo, though they all taste the same to me. plain and not worth the bucks.~
Prices are steeper for the taiwan cafe as compared to the HK one. Maybe their main courses would be more value for money.
Mochi would give them a 2nd chance.

The power of those who believe...

Started my jogs again yesterday. It's incredible what exercising can do to your brain. It can even wake the most lethargic brain in the whole world i.e. mochi's brain. So fatigue is never an excuse not to work it out!

I was jogging with my eyes half closed yesterday, mumbling under my breath why am I tiring my poor body out.

When I slept like a baby last night, I took that all back. Haven't been sleeping well recently and really appreciate that 7 precious hours of recuperation.

Well, lots of things going to happen tomorrow. Or nothing will actually happen. Whatever it is, I believe things will only get better from here, for the one leaving and definitely for those who are still hanging around.

Back to my TVB

I need more novelty

made my way to Tampines1 yesterday. As expected, the novelty has dwindled and there's not much crowd, probably also because it was a weekday. Brought my mum to Uniqlo and it was to satisfy my own curiousity also to see if the range was any different from the HK uniqlo.

It was about the same. The stuff I saw in HK 3 months ago, I still see it in the store marked as "new arrival". I was prepared to spend some money there but frankly, the stuff there are really not that nice at closer look, some looking pretty cheapskate. Well, don't think I'll be back there for some time. I'll rather pop into This Fashion which has some interesting, quirky designs worth buying once in awhile.

Popped into Ikea as well to eat and buy some stuff. Shopping on a weekday is good and something which I have not indulge in in many months.

And oh, spent the remaining of my day doing up a mug for ES! Haven't pass it to him yet but I can post it up safely coz he doesn't read my blog. YA! why wouldn't you be interested in your gf or bf's blog? That's something I can never comprehend. He had a shortlived blog but I was a fan though the stuff he posted are very cheem and boring. But it's good in a sense coz at least I'm given all the space to write on anything I want about him.ha.

Check out my master piece! I'm surprised at my own creativity despite my crazy schedule !! woohooo! mochi rocks!

He mentioned that he needed a mug for his office use and REQUESTED for me to give him one. ^%*#%$*. Didn't take long though, but I was too engrossed in drawing it that I forgot to make space for the lips for drinking. Oops. hope he doesn't get poisoning. Used Uni-Ball paint pens which worked very well for me! Did a sketch on the mug before I started to be on the safe side coz I only bought that 1 and only mug.

Meantime, just caught Green day's "21 guns" on MTV channel. love this song.

Survived, revived and refreshed.

I survived. It wasn't too horrendous but it was the preparatory work that was fatal.

Thanks to the incredible teamwork and for me, I hope I will not stare into an excel spreadsheet for a long long time. Preparing the interviewee lists for the assessors was a no brainer but TEDIOUS task.

Well, it's over and my big boss declared off day for us. yippppeee! I need it. CDD should close shop today.

Slept till 11am today. shiok. gonna spent some time with my okasan.

I need some ktv as well, play some bejeweled and finally meet ES before he finds a new girlfriend. ha

Oh oh...There was this day when I foresee that I will work past midnight. He actually ordered Macs to my office. Haha..so sweeeeeeeet! muacks.

As it always happens, it turned out to be quite a boohoo coz the macs guy called me and I told him I didn't order macs. When I queried, he quoted ES's name and his hp number. So...I thought he was the one who ordered and somehow coz maybe we gave 2 contact numbers when we ordered macs previously, he decided to call me instead.

So I sent the guy to call ES. 15 min later, he called back sounding frustrated and said he's in my office campus now and he couldn't get ES and wants me to go collect the food. I was like thinking, shit, now I gotta pay for something I didn't order. Only then when he said the food was paid for already, I realised that he could have ordered it for me. hahaha. yep. brain was slow coz it was like 9pm already and I've been working thru the nights for the last few weeks.

Called ES and finally picked up. He actually went jogging after he made the macs order. That was double happiness for me. He went JOGGING. omg. Love ES doubly more.

Going prawning tomorrow! yippppeeee.

yay...mochi survived this exact crazy work cycle for the 2nd time.

No 3rd round. I will ensure that.

Revamped Suki Sushi Menu @ Hougang Plaza Level 3

Sharon san's treat at Suki! Yep, decided to go to our fave suki since it was a long time since we met. And in my mind, I already had the items I usually order in my head. Boring but that's typical Suki stuff which I didn't mind.

To our surprise, they revamped the Suki Buffet Menu with more and pricier items! Price remains the same though at $21.99++. But I can tell you, it's really much worth the bucks.

~ Yasai Steamboat & Ebi Tempura. Both are new items! Not easy to find a buffet with ebi tempura on their buffet menu.~

~ Mentai Mussels! another yummy one. me and ES totally into Mentai stuff now...meaning cod roe...err..they use flame to slightly char the cod roe..taste super yummy lor.~

~ Asparagus Bacon and Enoki Bacon..both are newbies! Sharon san loved these.~
~ close up of the Yasai hotpot with Miso soup base~
I love Jap food! I'll be back Suki. Mata ne!
*Mochi Status: busy storing energy for the coming week.*

Sushi Tei @ VivoCity Level 2

It is difficult to miss the snaking queue, especially during weekends. Call me ulu but I've never dined at Sushi Tei before. Wahaha. Okay, we have our ulu moments. It was a great meal I felt. Well, could be I have been deprived for the past few weeks or so having normal kopitiam food.

Okay, back to the food. It was YUM! We were not spared of the queueing either though it was a weekday night. At least, it was worth it when we saw the wide variety on the menu and the food was good.

~ Ebi Fry Sushi with crabmeat and roe. It was on some seafood promo menu.. A must-try!! ~ Salmon Mentai. Fresh and soft. Worth a try~

~ Ebi Tempura... Fried to perfection~

~ Gyuniku wrapped with Enoki. Not bad at all though ES complained that the gyuniku could be more tender.~
Overall, thumbs up dining experience.
Good food always brighten up my week.

Temporary loss of facial Muscular Activity

I'm grumpy when I lose my beauty sleep. Indeed, sleep makes me beautiful aesthetically and also enhances my inner beauty.

I had the " I'm busy, dun come and disturb." printed on my forehead today. My face was black. I think. Kind Kungfu panda wanted me to relax and give a smile. At the back of my busy mind, I wondered how to reconcile the 2 conflicting moods. Smile when I'm busy. Relax when I have been working until midnight for the past few days? Think I can only perform this stunt when I attain nirvana.

GRUMPY.. and still tired. Everyday I pray for 1 thing... to get H1N1. Then I can kena quarantined and sleep at home. Amen.

I'm glad I'm not one of those who yell vulgarities and sweep stuff off the desks when stressed. I mope silently and you probably won't notice I'm around. My brain is so busy that the only reaction I can manage is a blank or black face.

ahhh...I shall call it The Temporary Loss of Facial Muscular Activity.

Thanks Kungfu panda anyways. Nice try.

Gyoza no Ohsho Singapore @ Cuppage Plaza

Nearly couldn't make it to dinner with ES. Decided to pack up and just bring the work home. I need some brain fuel!

Been wanting to try this Gyoza no Ohsho stall located @ Cuppage Plaza #01-10. Think they have a few different branches located along that stretch of Orchard Road.

Surprised to find that its operating time is pretty long :
11.30am -2am (Mon - Sat) & 12pm - 12am (Sun & Public Holidays)

Anyway, the food was oishii! I ordered the Pirikara ramen & ES ordered the Crabmeat Egg Rice. The generous portion of bean sprouts was the highlight of my ramen! yum! The minced pork coupled with the spicy miso based soup was perfect and flavourful. The wings were hot and crispy but nothing very unique.

However, if you're not too hungry and if it's a girls' outing, try to share the main courses as the ramen and rice were humongous in portion. I would like to try their famous gyoza the next time!

Had dessert in New York New York which was nothing fantastic to rave about. Never really liked their food but just that they had nice cushy couches for chilling out.

back to work....grrrrrr....zzzz
