Mural Painting @ IMH

My first attempt...or rather involvement in mural painting. It's really cool that les decided to revive her routine to paint for IMH. I think anyone who volunteers is admirable as forking out an afternoon from the already pitifully short weekend is what I call sacrifice.

This is the first time in 17 years, I set foot on IMH though I stay only about 14min away, by foot, from this place. Nice place, lots of greenery and really peaceful surroundings.

Besides some minor hiccups in the projector, everything went on smoothly as we unveil the scenery with strokes of our brushes. Lots of helpers too so things went on doubly fast. We spent a good 5-6 hrs doing up 2 plain walls though by 2 hours, the non artists were already stripped of their jobs, standing by watching the real artists weaving details and depth into the picture.

~Les's colleague's dad did this whole wall by himself...almost. He's really good.~

~half done...merging the colors of the mountains and trees. I painted the sea! The easiest. haha~

~ the other wall with a different picture. Didn't catch much of this wall coz there're super alot of artists working on it at any one time.~
Anyway, I left early to study. Halfway there mochi.

Colbie Caillat

Been listening to this American pop songwriter Colbie Caillat's albums. She's probably more well known for her duet with jason mraz - lucky. Her albums are really easy listening and I would say poppish with accoustic folk style. I could only play her albums as background music while studying as her music is non-intrusive, easy on the ears and relaxing. Love her voice and music which reminds me very much of Tanya Chua. Both are equally talented. Yumz. 2 more good albums to last me for awhile.

Bubbly

I've been awake for a while now
You've got me feelin' like a child now
'Cause every time I see your bubbly face
I get the tingles in a silly place

And it starts in my toes
And I crinkle my nose
Wherever it goes
I always know
That you make me smile
Please stay for a while now
Just take your time
Wherever you go

The rain is falling on my window pane
But we are hiding in a safer place
Under covers staying dry and warm
[Another version of the song says: "Under covers staying safe and warm"]
You give me feelings that I adore

And it starts in my toes
Makes me crinkle my nose
Wherever it goes
I always know
That you make me smile
Please stay for a while now
Just take your time
Wherever you go

What am I gonna say
When you make me feel this way
I just mmmmm

And they start in my toes
Makes me crinkle my nose
Wherever it goes
I always know
That you make me smile
Please stay for a while now
Just take your time
Wherever you go

I've been asleep for a while now
You tuck me in just like a child now
'Cause every time you hold me in your arms
I'm comfortable enough to feel your warmth

And it starts in my soul
And I lose all control
When you kiss my nose
The feeling shows
'cause you make me smile baby
Just take your time now
Holdin' me tight

Wherever wherever wherever you go
Wherever wherever wherever you go

wherever you go
I always know
'Cause you make me smile
Even just for a while

Carl's Junior - a quick fix to bad dinners

haven't been sleeping well coz of a bad throat. It felt like I had a marble in my throat and the especially when I'm swallowing my food, the pain is worse. mochi, it's an inflammation not a marble.

Had dinner with ES at MOF yesterday. He wanted some HOT udon so I suggested MOF and the food was so surprisingly disappointing. The food was so bad that comparatively, the cold green tea tasted heavenly.

We left our udon and ramen half eaten and headed for Carl's Junior for quick relief from sucky food. We shared the Western Bacon Thick Burger... and that made our dinner. That was real dinner. oh, and I think it cured my sore throat quite abit. I always believed in the 以毒攻毒theory. The plain udon was just too mild to affect my throat, either way.

I'm looking forward to the mural painting tomorrow at IMH with Les and gang. Sunday will be burnt doing that so that hopefully will make me study a bit harder today.

1 week before exams.

This is a usual post which I put up quarterly. It's exams time and I am totally not in the exam mood.

Help. Help.

Hopefully the i-gotta-start-mugging feeling grows stronger thru the week.

I'm in love with the Asian Food Channel on starhub cable ch69. Love watching cooking shows and shots of pretty food. I just caught this series called "Chopped". It's similar to project runway concept where the chefs are required to go through 3 rounds of cooking - appetiser, main course and dessert. Every round, 1 chef would be elimiated. Every round, they would be given a mysterious basket of ingredients which they have to makse use of in their dishes. They are also given a huge pantry of other basic ingredients which they can use to enhance their dishes.

The most interesting would be to see how they were surprised by the basket just seconds before they start their cooking and they had to think on their feet to whip up really creative dishes in 20 or 30min.

I want to subscribe to the channel! Well, the reason why I have this channel is coz of the free 1 month preview box I get from re-signing up for my cable Tv. And yes, it's a marketing gimmick to entice customers into subscribing more channels!! .... let me see how much it costs.

恭喜恭喜2010

Happy CNY mina san! 祝大家在虎年扮猪吃老虎!heard this from luo zhi xiang and I thought it was a really unique and meaningful greeting. It means putting in little effort but with great returns. I like this.
hmm..It's been a really piggy CNY so far. What's new. Never really enjoyed CNY except for the long hols and I can meet finally meet my sleep quota. Have been seriously underperforming in this area.
oh, another perk is that I can enjoy my mama san's home cooked food everyday! My daily routine so far...
Eat....Watch Tv....if nothing to watch...eat...go sleep.. eat... if relatives come...entertain...eat...surf net...tired...nap...eat....eat until fall asleep.
Dam unhealthy but definitely signs of a rolly polly prosperous roaring year ahead.

~year year got fish nian gao courtesy of ES.. my mama san really liked it and insisted on displaying it although it needs refrigeration. I guess it's not meant to be eaten after all.~

~ my mama san's to die for chilli crabs. it's the best in the world.ES nods in agreement.~

~ mama san whipped up this sumptuous CNY reunion dinner for us.. muacks! you're da best mama san!~
Tormented by the guilt from my indulgence and the extreme bloatedness from dinner, I went for jog. phew. really felt better after the jog man. My appetite came right back.

Out of Focus in Sentosa

~ As lighting was super poor and using the flash would overexpose the pic, had to play around with the shutter speed to get the exact brightness. The best I could get liao. You'll need to place the camera on a tripod or a bench which I did to get a sharp pic.~
Had a good break at Rasa Sentosa over the weekend. A simple stay where we jogged around the island, visited the Resorts World, had a satisfying totally calories-bursting meal at Chili's, played arcade and frisbee by the beach. It was lucky that setting up of the festival of lights was half completed which triggered the trigger-happy me. The not so happy person was ES. But he was nice and patient that day....as usual. muacks!
The lights were great for playing around with the out of focus mode.

~Original - before out of focus~
~ Making the bright lights into abstract rainbow bulbs. Set it to manual focus, turn the focus ring to throw the lights of of focus. Play around with the shutter speed to get the background dark~

Mayday news = apple vinegar

The week is going slow... but the year seems to be shooting past at nano speed. We're already 1 month into 2010.

Enjoying the cold apple vinegar I made while tapping away on the keyboard. Some people hate the stingy tangy taste that somehow scorches your throat in a mild way. Some people just like the sting which nudges me awake. I love it!! I'm gonna try cranberry, plum and maybe promegranate soon. Vinegar is my latest craze.

My next craze.

This is a sleepy week. No matter how early I sleep each day, I wake up feeling more tired than ever. I can barely keep my lids up at 12noon and almost reaching out for a toothpick by 2pm ...especially after lunch.

In the groggy state of mind, I suddenly read about Mayday concert which jolted me awake. I immediately jio W who is also a mayday fan! I was chiding him last year coz he sold his tic coz someone offered him a super good price for it. WTH rite. How can he do that to MD!

Well, I bought a ticket @ $168 seated at B2 Row 19 seats 20-26. Their concerts are getting more frequent and tix are getting more ex every year!! They better gimme a new album soon!

Its dam cool coz its an outdoor event and it's a RAIN OR SHINE event. I am praying so very HARD that it'll rain coz its gonna be so much more fun singing and jumping in the rain to MD music!! hoh hoh high ah!

Buddy Ng! You going??
