The beauty of lyrics

been jogging for 5 days this week!! woohooo. ganbatte!! urgh..maybe it's the thought that i'll be pigging out on my SA trip soon hence the motivation to relieve abit of that guilt.

caught 超级星光 just now and I was totally mesmerized by 范文凱 who sang 心動. He sang it with so much Fiiii lling...that i could feel his voice tugging at my heart strings. I can see him breezing into the finals. One of the best male vocalist I've seen who could bring out the emotions of this song so perfectly.

You'll have to fast fwd to the middle part of the video, after the gal, to catch his portion:
sorry..this video can't be embedded. pls visit youtube!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYv1ANCRabE

K the afternoon away with ahmad and maria. me and maria finally found our first duet. BSB..I'll never break your heart. haha... hoh duo fiiiiii lling....

we were just chatting about how chinese songs can depict emotions and stories so much better than english songs. lyrically i mean. Not to mention great lyricist Fang Wen Shan's works. I'm totally dumbfounded by his compositions.

Anyways, we were singing Yang Cong by Yang Zong Wei and concluded that it's so visual you can virtually imagine the chorus happening to you when you are going through a break up or the desperate wish of hoping that your loved ones know exactly how you feel.

The english translation means to peel your heart off like how you're peeling an onion, you'll feel like crying as you peel deeper into the core of the onion, unveiling my secret and my feelings about you. It's like so bloody painful and it suits Oscar's perpetual painful expression as well. OMG! ashin is a genius la.

“如果你愿意一层一层地拨剥开我的心,
你会发现你会讶异 你是我最压抑最深处的秘密

如果你愿意一层一层一层的剥开我的心
你会鼻酸 你会流泪 只要你能听到我看到我的全心全意”

Comparatively...maybe not a very good comparison but can't think of a good song off hand now, is my recent favourite Always Be my Baby by Mariah Carey. Though I have to admit that I LOVE david cook's version, but really, the lyrics are too cheezy for words. You know what I mean.

"You'll always be a part of me I'm part of you indefinitely Boy don't you know you can't escape me Ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby And we'll linger on Time can't erase a feeling this strong No way you're ever gonna shake me Oh darling, cause you'll always be my baby"

It's usually the singer who imparts life to the boring words. Have to say it's commendable.

Don Pie's Claypot Bee Hoon Crab

Not the first time we've been there. I had a craving to drink the soup from the claypot crab so there we were. It's a pity we can't top up the soup. Once I start I can't stop drinking the soup!

Anyway, the place is located at South Bridge Road. Near the Sushi Tei @ China Square. If you're looking for a quiet place away from the bustle for dinner, can consider having crabbbs. Affordable too...@ $16 per pot. ES ordered the black pepper one which is dry and it was oishii as well.

~ the crab is small but the flesh comes off easily and tasted pretty good. so i assume it's fresh? haha.. i dun care. as long as it's yummy~

~ one of the very very very very few times I have to wait for him to finish his food. Happens only when we are eating crabs. He lovesss them and devours them to the very last scrap of meat.~

~never seen this root beer before. nice but ex root beer. $3.50!~

Prawn Aglio Olio on a hot sat afternoon

accomplished another pasta mania mission today. we decided to cook aglio olio with prawns and add some chilli padi for some spiciness. The result was a simple, oishii homecooked aglio olio. yummy.

As usual, ES was in charge of cooking the pasta.. he's getting quite good at it. gave him another task today which was to pan fry the prawns.

__________________________________________________________________

Aglio Olio Recipe wa kantan ne:

For 2 pax:

1) Pan fry 3 small pieces of garlic in olive oil (about half a cup or as u prefer depending if you like it wet or dry) till fragrant. Watch the fire. Do not over fry if not the garlic will taste bitter.

2) Add in a bit of corn starch so that the oil doesn't splatter.

3) Add a bit of coarse black pepper, salt, some chilli padi, shreds of crab stick to taste.

4) Lightly fry the pasta in the garlic olive oil mixture. Dish out when ready!

Prawns:

1) deshell and marinate the prawns in salt, pepper, cornstarch. Do not add soya sauce. Our prawns tasted very chinese style coz my mama san came along and added in light soya sauce lor. And also, use olive oil to fry the prawns so that it doesn't taste too chinese. Why am I complaining, it still tasted great. heh.

I can only manage simple cooking. I hate the washing up after that. If I had a maid, I would try out different dishes as and when I like minus the washing! ya...but then again, if i had a maid, I would be too lazy to cook even. so.

couched on the sofa and we caught 5 episodes of HK drama with bubble milk tea after that... so..that explains for the need to go for a jog later. when the sun sets that is, weather is scorching.

what formula

sigh..my last post was a mistake. i shouldn't have said it's the 1st time I've heard it. UlU is my middle name.

natsuri ulu san.

it's formula One tonight. seems like everyone is on their toes, all anxious and excited about this very much talked about event of the year which would potentially inject some adrenaline into the economy in times like this.

yep.. times like this. my financial planner called today. courteous and polite as always..breaking news of my investment going down the drain in a really positive and subtle manner. thx jason. he asked if I would like to stop the investment but would really encourage me to continue leaving it in for immediate returns once the market picks up.

Formula for long term investment=patience is a virtue

okay lor...was my answer. fingers crossed that I wont lose all of my CPF... need to buy a house if I dun get married by 33 or 35...can't remember.

slowly could feel the holiday-ING feeling coming over me... 6 more days. ganbatte ne.

need to go and entertain my ES now. TGIF mina san!

RunAway Train

Heard my fave band in China One last night..didn't stay long but really enjoyed the music...just the style I love. One of the songs they sang was RunAway Train...cool song though it's the 1st time I've heard it.

Runaway Train - Soul Asylum

Call U up in the middle of the night.
Like a firefly without a light.
U were there like a blowtorch burning.
I was a key that could use a little turning.
So tired that I couldn't even sleep.
So many secrets I couldn't keep.
Promised myself I wouldn't weep.
One more promise I couldn't keep.
It seems no one can help me now.
I'm in too deep.
There's no way out.
This time I have really led myself astray.

Runaway train never going back.
Wrong way on a one way track.
Seems like I should be getting somewhere.
Somehow I'm neither here nor there.

Can U help me remember how to smile.
Make it somehow all seem worthwhile.
How on earth did I get so jaded.
Life's mystery seems so faded.
I can go where no one else can go.
I know what no one else knows.
Here I'm just drowning in the rain.
Wtih a ticket 4 a runaway train.
Everything is cut and dry.
Day & night,earth & sky.
Somehow I just don't believe it.

Runaway train never going back.
Wrong way on a one way track.
Seems like I should be getting somewhere.
Somehow I'm neither here nor there.

Bought a ticket 4 a runaway train.
Like a madman laughing at the rain.
Little out of touch,little insane.
Just easier than dealing with the pain.

Runaway train never going back.
Wrong way on a one way track.
Seems like I should be getting somewhere.
Somehow I'm neither here nor there.
Runaway train never coming back.
Urnaway train tearing up the track.
Runaway train buring in my veins.
Runaway but it always seems the same.

CBD syndrome

Am attending this course called 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. learnt something about effective conditioning meaning people's behaviour get conditioned through repetitive rewards or punishment. E.g. when I bite my fingernails as a kid, my mum would give me a sharp slap on my mouth whenever she caught me doing it. Bite = slap = pain = stop biting nails. I kicked my habit since.

Read an article about a woman who beat up the maid and even her sons followed suit, ganged up to pour hot wax over her head. Again?! i thought. Don't these maid abusers ever learn their lessons? with all the reports on maid abusers and sadistic employers getting imprisonment.... they still do it and think they can escape.

They must be either stupid or insane. Effective conditioning obviously doesn't work for these bunch of people.

I think I'm suffering from the CBD phobia syndrome. The course is held at Robinson Centre and it's really daunting for a person who has been detached from working in CBD for a couple of years. Been teaching in neighbourhood previously and now working at non CBD area.. having to walk fast to beat the lunch and peak hour crowd is indeed horrific and challenging.

You should see how I saunter to work every morning.

Lamborghini parade @ Swing KPE

woke up at 6am today for Swing KPE event. Yep, a bright sunday morning.

This was a bigger event than the opening of Phase 1 KPE sometime last year. Corp Comms got Jean Danker and Glenn Ong to be the host with MP Teo Chee Hean as President Nathan as our GOHs. For once, I didn't bring my camera and it was just so happening! sighz. mochi shall never make the mistake again... these pics courtesy from my k660I. Will upload more pics from my colleague's cam soon.

Oh, there was this fantastic band playing all the cool retro and rock songs!! bobbed to the songs when soliciting donations.... love great bands. They ended the day with Always Be my Baby...!!! ooohhh la la..Ahmad>> u shld have been there!! makes me really look forward to our upcoming China One gathering.Rock rulez..

~5km Fun Walk....~

~ 10km competitive run~

~super cute performer with auto bubble machine attached to his pouch..~

Highlight of the event was the lambo parade where the eye turning cars took children from the charity homes for a charity ride. We were raising funds for the President's Challenge. The kids had a once in a lifetime experience and could tell they were really exhilerated..

babylon A.D. - rating: 1 / 5 stars

watched babylon A.D. yesterday with my colleagues.. an impromptu decision on the movie title by matt. never trust her choice of movies again!! the show was so bOring, giddy coz of the action...too much action actually. The storyline sent us into bewilderment. The commotion when the credits rolled out was more interesting than the movie. Some giggled some Huh very loudly.including myself..

There was this guy who was alone munching on a huge bag of chips. Guess he had meant to use the time required to finish the chips as a gauge of whether the movie can sustain his interest. Coz as soon as he zapped up the chips, i heard a crunch of the empty bag and he was soon fast asleep.

That show was more interesting than the movie.

ironed a whole basket of clothes today. The unbearable task was more tolerable as I ironed and watched my tvb drama.. mission accomplished!

getting ready for BBQ at sharon san's place... zhe san, おひさしぶりね!

Jolin's face

it's a blue monday today. Office was quiet as most were out for meetings.

I was handling one shit after another. All those minute stuff kept bugging me from completing what I was supposed to do.

took a break and started browsing thru all the fowarded mails my colleague sent. One of which showed Jolin's breakout on her face which was a total turn off. It's sad la.. her efforts to being flawless and well-endowed assets just went down the drain because of some puny pimples.

yep.. moral of the story - give our faces a break once in a while to prevent shocking your friends at chalets.

I hear the thunder... looking forward to a cooling night

Henderson waves Nature Walk - 31 August 2008

Uploading some of my fave pics taken during the nature walk. Great workout and perfect for gathering with friends. For sporty friends that is. I totally lost my mind when I saw all the pretty flowers in HortPark.

F1 Fun Walk 30 August 2008

Too many activities going on.. these are pretty belated posts. Not my style to be belated! haha.

Anyway, the walk was short and pathetic. Really need a better event organiser la. lucky I had my camera to keep me occupied. Spent some quality time with otosan and mama san.

~ enjoying the mini fan from the goodie bag.... F1 Pit Stop in the background~

~mama san was so elated to take pics with the singtel F1 gals...~

~beautiful pic of reflection taken on our walk along the kallang river on our way to the shuttle bus~

Cable Ski @ East Coast and a guilty party

the weather has been kind to me recently. During my HK trip, it was sunny thru out though it was supposed to be flooding. Henderson waves trip...at least I was given about 3 hours of sunshine which I was really grateful for. Today, our cable skiing trip was blessed with abundance of sunshine too.

It was sharon san's idea to go cable ski. A result of being on too long a leave hence went surfing around for funny stuff to do.

Well, it was a good deal I must say. $16 for 1 hour try out session only for 1st timers @ East Coast Cable Ski Park. 1 hour was really quite sufficient coz the sport is really very taxing. feeling pretty drained out now with tired eyes coz I cried too much watching 当狗爱上猫 this morning. Ya...you noe, the aching feeling in your eyes when you cry too much coupled with the sea water and super shiong exercise. imagine.

Sharon is gg to nag at me for blogging about my series of unfortunate events but I have to do it la. mochi spirit!!

okay...compromise...I'll just blog about my most unfortunate event.I feel sad to say it's coz of my beloved honey, darling, baby, ES san

We were cycling and I was just teasing him by cycling close behind him. What would your normal reaction be if you were my friend and cycling infront??? to cycle faster right? unless you want the person behind to die.

He BRAKED!!!! without warning and on purpose just to scare me. It was attempted murder. I couldn't swerve in time and collided into him. Boom. A slice of skin came off from my big toe..blood! ahhh! faint.

suffered a few abrasions here and there and was in a real pathetic state that a construction worker walked over to offer his medicated oil for my wounds. errr..medicated oil? thanks but no thanks.

and we sat there on the pavement with me hugging my poor toe with sharon san and ES telling me all kinds of weird jokes which I didn't find amusing at all.

I asked ES if he was remorseful, he said he's super regretful for what he had done.

so....I FORGIVE YOU. 我原谅你!!

As part of being a good employee, I shall install brake lights for all vehicles he's going to ever ride on. Signal lights would be good too.

buddies gathering at ichiban sushi PS

met up w buddy tan and ng yesterday. a pretty impromptu date which went pretty well. like what buddy tan said, we fixed the date, venue and type of cuisine without much hassle.

Buddies think alike!

it's good to meet up..updated with each others' good news *wink wink tan*.. and do the usual gossiping, experiencing buddy ng's cursing of ppl face-to-face, discussing about tan's new hairtsyle and laughing at inane stuff.

we went crazy at daiso thanks to buddy ng and her convincing hair clip demo. we all bought a few pieces of kawaii hair accessories. Shopped in 20 min for buddy tan's d&d dress which wasn't planned.

it was easy to sum up the conversation on the 20min ride home with buddy ng..... tvb drama serials...bosco....sammul...raymond... and more.

That more or less sums up thurs night. Let's meet up soon ya buddies...Think our gathering template standard liao...jap food + daiso.

gg cable skiing!! yoo hoo...rain rain go away!

love @ first sight

have you ever experienced love @ 1st sight in the course of your retail therapy journey?

It happens when you spot it from the corner of your eye, you pick it up so promptly as though it's free, head right into the fitting room, gleefully thinking that you'll never find another similar piece... ever again.

And it's even when the salesgirl tells you that there's NO NEW PIECE **thunder rolls**, you'll still whip out your wallet all ready to pay for the old piece.

tada! presenting to you....one of love@first sight...... the flowers, color combi, the chiffony material and price was just exactly what I liked!

Brewerkz @ Clarke Quay

Met up with my Uni Orientation mates that day @ brewerkz. Omg..when I saw peijie's sms say "we are having a Nevva gathering...." I was like...NEVVA??! what's that?! then realised it's our orientation group name..hahaha.. that was like 8 years ago. yep, we're a bunch of goodie pies. We din order any alcohol despite the waitress repeated prompts that happy hour is ending soon and checking if there was any last order for beer.

The food is okay.. but EX. We were lucky to get the riverside seat though. Nice view with the cool after-rain breeze in your hair. Not something you can enjoy all year round in Singapore.

~the beef burger was not bad.. so you can try if you go there la.~

~ordered this chicken breast meat plus bacon sandwich...the chicken was tough and chewy.. eeks.~
~ this roti prata looking pizza tasted unique with beer cheese taste. which I hate. but for beer lovers...it's a good try. !~

~ this small lamb chop was $35... and according to ivan san, it's not worth tho it tasted good.~

bulging mochi

Mochi decided to move around more. Ask me what I have been busy with recently? Just name any of the unhealthy, couch potato-ing stuff, you’ll hit bull’s eye. Here’s what mochi’s mochi-ing:

§ Engrossed in “When Cats Love Dogs” starring Hu Xin Er and Luo Jialiang… everything went well till I found out that Luo JiaLiang has cancer. Sucks. Now he’s acting noble enduring all the pain on his own for the last 6 months he has to live. Sucks la. Not much motivation to watch. Didn’t help that mama san who already finished watching, sauntered past me and warn me that Luo will die in the end. SUCKS LA.

§ Following the last few episodes of On the First Beat.. the cast is good. I like Tao Da Yu in the show.

§ Following the first few episodes of Sui Yue Feng Yun. It’s a long long 60 epi series. Still like Lam Fung a lot. Heh. Nothing to talk about now.. that’s the problem with long dramas. The plot unfolds like the pace of a snail at the beginning.

§ Been trying to incorporate exercise into my daily routine. Ever since I enjoy the reimbursement on my farecard, been taking bus to the mrt though it’s just a 8 min walk from my house. When I meet up with ES, we try to eat less and walk more or do some form of exercise.

§ Loading pics. Think I’m becoming a camera whore. I take every single thing, small, puny, nice, not nice... my records so far:
- 300 pics on 2 days 1 night trip to Malacca
- 800 pics on 8 days 7 nights Jiu Zhai Gou
- 750 pics on 9 days 8 nights Turkey Trip
- 400 pics on 3 days 2 nights HK trip
- 150 pics on day trips. E.g. Flyer, Henderson waves, Ubin, batam..etc

My comp is exploding with pics. But I enjoy looking thru and sorting them. One of my fave past time is to organize memories. Imagine looking thru them when you’re 80! Woah.

Realised I haven’t been writing for a long time. been swamping my blog with pics. Must hao lian a bit ma.. since I took so many.

I tipped the scales at 54kg today!!! *thunder rolls* I’ll be eating healthily from now onwards…I really must. Yep.. so I’ll prob be ordering salads the next time I meet up with you. Dun discriminate me ah.

Fingers crossed on how long mochi san can keep to her diet plan. Till then, I shall still be declaring that I’m on a diet.
