Marley and Me review

It was a blessing in disguise that I watched it off the screens. I'm not those who go gaga over doggie movies but I wouldn't totally shun it as well. And if you know me, my threshold for bad movies is pretty high so you can tell how this movie had incurred my wrath.

Watched many doggie movies before and I can say for sure this is one of the most ridiculous, untouching movie ever done. They have totally wasted everyone's time including the doggie's time in producing the movie. The doggie must have felt so insulted as the main cast. tsk tsk.

I'm guessing that the film-makers are trying to make a unique film by veering from the mainstream storyline. Marley was the most naughty, unruly and worst dog ever which I bet the whole cinema of movie-goers were cursing at through out the draggy 2 hr show. The only thing I remember about the dog is how it charged and chewed at every piece of furniture it could get its teeth on, how it chewed off the pillows with tons of feathers snowing around, how it charged into the bathroom when the dog minder was taking her bath.

You would expect the filmmaker at this time, inject some unexpected events to redeem the reputation of the little dinosaur. No. It showed how the dino turned into a Tyrannosaurus, barking and charging through 3 neighbours' garden and barking its head off at the sound of the police siren.

Terrible and sad dog. I lost all hope by this time and the worst part came when it suddenly showed how Marley got a funny stomach-upside-down illness (sorry..can't rem the illness) and the whole family started moping over it. Firstly, I could feel zero sense of attachment the family has with the dog. I couldn't even think of one instance which portrayed Marley's endearment to the family. Secondly, I did not feel sad coz probably Marley had the funny illness due to the accumulated rotting furniture it had gobbled in the past 12 years. The irony came in when Owen Wilson told the vet with great confidence that Marley would survive through this coz if he could digest a telephone, he can survive ANYthing. what rubbish is this.?!

The kids cried over Marley's death. I wouldn't cry over a t-rex which ran over me countless times during my childhood. I would infact be scared of it.

Having said that, pls do not misunderstand me. It's perfectly realistic to write about a horrible dog. But you need to also carve the perfect string of events to bring out how this horrible dog has somehow changed your life or affected you in some remote way, besides destroying your life.
Crap. Pls watch it and you'll know how crap it is.

say HI to Mr Busy Week

It's that time of the year again where my eyesight, patience and proof reading skills are put to a gruelling test.

Not much of a weekend for me, except that I managed to squeeze in half a day of cycling from ECP to Changi Beach Park. It was fun with the usual gang as we sweat it out with the scenic ride.

and oh, I caught I, Robot on tv just now though it was only like 1 hour of serious watching, the other 1 hour I drifted in and out of the story. But it was a good show.

I was glad that ktv was cancelled today with the saved hours dedicated to report proof reading. Ahhhh.. that brings me back to the gruelling test. Cat 4 was bad. The english and phrasing all CMI. The more I edited the more sense of achievement I got and the more proud I am of my language skills.

I'm not good at using bombastic words and my vocab is pte ltd. But at least I know how to make clear and easily understood sentences. That is the basis of what language is. To be understood.

It will be a hectic week for me. Breathe and Ganbatte mochi san.

Reunion in my dream

I dreamt of ah ma last night. Actually, it was the first time I dreamt of her since she left and coincidentally, it is Qing Ming tomorrow.

Although I couldn't decide whether it was a good or bad dream, it was nice to reunite with her. I dreamt that my parents brought me out for dinner and I saw 2 old ladies in stark white hair. One was my grandma's younger sis, my grandauntie, and I couldn't recognise the other lady till I walked nearer to her. She was my grandma, slightly fleshier on the face with a medical tube connected to her nose. She looked kinda sad and her hair was way whiter than I remembered.

I held onto her hand and just kept crying and crying and crying...till I woke up.

I miss you ah ma. Hope you are happier than what I saw in my dream.

The Tracks Of My Tears

Adam Lambert's rendition of The Tracks of my Tears was incomparable. More mainstream than the original, which is good. Afterall, he'll make a perfect recording artiste! His vocals and falsettos are crazy and makes you wonder whether such high pitched notes really exist.

It's only top 10 now. But I think I already know who will be the winner. Adam Lambert. Believe me. He will be the American Idol!
The Tracks Of My Tears - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles

People say I'm the life of the party
Because I tell a joke or two
Although I might be laughing loud and hearty
Deep inside I'm blue
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears..
I need you, need you
Since you left me if you see me with another girl
Seeming like I'm having fun
Although she may be cute
She's just a substitute
Because you're the permanent one..
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears..
I need you, need you
Outside I'm masquerading
Inside my hope is fading
Just a clown oh yeah
Since you put me down
My smile is my make up
I wear since my break up with you..
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears

南拳媽媽 (梁心頤 Lara) - 下雨天

Love this song!

Coincidentally.... I saw...

I'm a person who don't really bump into pple. as in coincidental meeting. Maybe i'm unique. So the unique places I go to at unique timings are unfathomable for common beings and cannot be predicted by the level of intelligence of the commoners.

Bumped into buddy ng today. She's one of the few lucky ones whom I met coincidentally twice or thrice? that's alot for the unique me. okay, maybe coz we stay near each other. heh.

Matthew. One of the newer friend I knew through chean and I've bumped into him thrice already. sugoi.

Another one. Pei Jie. My uni orientation classmate who gatecrashed into arts orientation camp. He's from engineering lor! wth. I met him like more than 3 times. That's like more than the number of times I met up with him officially since we left uni.

Another one whom I dread to meet but never fail to reunite with, without choice. Monday. Monday is irritating and I bump into him every week! On a positive note, if I don't bump into him, i'll never bump into Saturday and Sunday. So it's a love-hate affair.

As of this very moment this very second, I hate Monday.

It's TOO late to apologise...it's TOO late~~~

what luck today. purposely dropped an MRT stop earlier to take the bus so that I can stop nicely at my door step without getting the rain.

It must be the weather, the bus uncle..ooops. bus captain, was totally sleeping!! One boy beeped the bell. With 7 people standing up waiting to get off the bus, the bus uncle decided to only open the front door for someone to board. okay, he's pretty considerate I thought of him, planning to inch alittle forward so that he can alight us directly at the shelter. He did not inch and accelerated past the bus stop!

Our brains must have been frozen from the rain coz no one let out a squeak to stop him..including me. We beeped the bell twice and finally he heard it. A passenger walked up and asked him why din he stopped though we pressed the bell. The uncle said we just pressed so he will only stop at the next stop. He must be deaf la. Upon realising his mistake, he apologised and stopped us at the next stop. Ya..where else. Great, I gotta walk 1 stop back...in the rain! with 7 other suay souls.

Where got 天理. where.

Ma Maison @ Clarke Quay

Packaging is indeed important. Introduce some exotic-ness by adding words like "fusion" into your restaurant menu and add a bit of cosy, conceptual design to your restaurant. Ta-da. you've got ma maison.

Heard lots about this place but reluctant to say, it was disappointing. The ambience was nice and I applaud them for the concept. Spent a total of $33. This is with a 20% discount on lady's order on monday night. so rightfully, it should be 40 bucks. takai ne.

My garlic chicken steak was okay. It was unfortunate that I was pretty hungry that night and it just wasn't enough. In case you're wondering, this was how the chicken was served. I have not touched it yet. Beneath the garlic infested chicken was a few broccoli. Shucks. No potato. how to be full?!

evil shit ordered this hamburger steak. His comments was that pasta de waraku serves better steak pasta.~
After this totally junking-your-$ meal, and with severe PMSal depression, I told ES that I wished I could puke out what I ate and go billy bombers to start my dinner all over again. If only that could be done!!! sigh. alas. The junk food continued its jolly way down my digestive system. Ended up in Azabu Sabo for dessert and in an urge to quench my thirst for NICE food, we ordered the curry croquette which tasted terrible. to me. I'd rather eat old chang kee curry puff.

The softee ice-cream saved the day with all the bananas and choco sauce staring straight back at me. Ya..that's ES looking greedy and frustrated while waiting for me to take the pic.

my little niece

She paid a rare visit to my place yesterday. She's really a fast learner, mimicking in a snap of fingers, every word I utter. Amazing how kids these days can understand almost immediately the funny requests adults make them do. I decided to do the funny face thingy with her and she got really excited. Typical instructions from a seasoned camwhore. I said smile, she did. I said puffed face, she performed beyond my expectations. The only difference is that one IS cute, the other is acting cute. haha.

Was talking to sharon san a while when kaili was drawing. brilliant idea to keep kids busy but giving them a box of colored pencils and paper. it works wonders man.
Anyway, told kaili to say HI to sharon jie jie and introduce herself. she did it effortlessly. After sometime, a puzzled look loomed over her face. She kept quiet for a good 10 secs rolling her eyes everywhere as if searching for an answer.
I could still hear sharon rattling on the phone to her but couldn't make out what she was saying. After a while, Kaili, with me plastering the phone on her ears, tried to inch slowly and awkwardly towards the floor to pick up the piece of drawing she did. In bewilderment, she started folding the A4 sized drawing into a thin strip and hovered it near the speaker of the phone for like another 10 secs in silence. I took over the phone to find out the cause of her tortured expression.
Sharon san, in her limited chinese and in anxiousness to create conversation with her, forgot that they are on the phone.
She made a ridiculous request which could possibly scar a kid's childhood memories for life, "画画很美啊,来,拿给姐姐看!omg, that was what super innocent kaili was trying to do... to show stupid sharon jie jie the picture by putting it near the phone! hahahah. shows that her brain processing power is 100x higher than sharon jie jie. tsk tsk. but it was cute man. real cute.

I love coke!

Slurp!

Confessions of a periodic shopaholic

I was tired. Wondered whether it was the caffeine from the teh C I had for dinner, I was revived and I made a trip down get that pair of flats from pazzion. junction 8. i made a detour and reached J8 at 9pm. I just had to get it. Set my eyes upon it on sun and had been thinking about it since.

So I got it. Happened to spot a bag from bysi and a watch from citychain too.

I felt less tired after that.

Slothy mochi

The weather had been unforgiving, coercing our body to demostrate the scientific theory of expansion and contraction.

Felt unwell for the last 2 days. The drowsiness, sore throat, running nose and cough came like a blast. Thanks to the drowsiness I managed to get lots of sleep and thanks my okasan's wonder cough mixture which made me even more drowsy but better.

Thought of countering the fatigue with a jog and it worked wonders. I felt much better today.

Hmm...maybe it's just sloth. Beginning to like the word coz it really describes me very well. Nua is the hokkien equivalent.

Like how ES puts it... i'm suffering from the super sloth piggy sleeping disorder. So do show me some care and concern mina san!

JasOn mRaz 5 Mar 2009

The long awaited jason mraz concert is over. It was a short but really great concert. Lasted only barely one and half hours and he didn't managed to sing many of my fave songs. ahhhhh. But we concluded that all angmoh concerts are short and sweet. Comparatively, Mayday sang too much! haha. 3 hours concert for mayday and we're still complaining it wasn't enough.

Jason's vocal range is mad. He's got an animated tone when he's talking. He's thin and can sing dam well. I was totally impressed with his CD, previously and more awed by his live performance. I thought half the concert goers would have left after he sang I'm Yours middle of the concert. haha. People! stop being boring and Listen to his other songs pls.

Felt dejavu during the concert as though I was listening to my mp3 coz I listen to his songs like everyday. I loved the recomposition of the music in some of his songs. My all time fave was Mr Curiousity. a really touching song. Joi Chua sang LUCKY, with him and she's not bad at all! Lucky Joi!

Songs he sang I could recall:

1)You and I both

2)Mr Curiousity

3) I'm Yours

4) No Stopping Us

5) Sleeping to Dream (a tiny portion remixed into You and I both)

6) Unfold

7) The Remedy

8) Geek in the pink

9) Who needs shelter

10) Make it mine

11) Lucky (with Joi Chua)

12) Butterfly

13)Live High

14) Only Human

15) The dynamo of volition

16) A beautiful mess

~my concert buddy. we both seem to have great taste in music.~

~ my day started off with the KFC twister which ES bought as a surprise for me! ^_^ maybe i was complaining too much about wanting to try it. haha. taste not fantastic though.~
