Yea.. I’m back from HK. Been MIA for awhile…maybe haven’t gotten out of the holiday slacking mood yet. Haha
But our HK extravaganza wasn’t a slacking trip. We walked and walked. Legs almost giving way at the end of the day. To the point that we were so high when we spot a seat in the MTR, shopping centres or cafes.
We survived with our Budget: S$300 per pax (including transport in HK, meals, shopping). Used right up to the very last HK$ we had.
Day1 – 18 July 2008
We decided to take public transport all the way to save $. No cabs unless absolutely necessary. We lugged our luggages through the stations and through ever crowded Mongkok ladies market + Fa Yuen St, to Stanford Hotel at Soy St. I checked in sneakily since I’m supposed to be the illegal squatter. After leaving our luggages, we were off for our lunch at Central (mid levels escalator).
Highly recommended Cha Can Ting serving authentic HK café food. We scaled heights (never ending escalators) for it and only managed to enjoy our lunch at 2.30pm.. yes. We found it!

~itadakimasu! we walked till super tired. weather was crazy hot!~

We shopped around at H&M and hard rock café. Lots of things to buy!! but alas, if we start buying, there’ll be no end. So we decided that the stuff can be bought in Singapore as well. Got myself a hard rock tshirt for momento. That’s it for shopping at Central!! Omg… broke my own retail therapy record. I’m proud of you mochi san!
Next, we proceeded to Tsim Sha Tsui for Ave of Stars and to catch the Symphony of Lights at the WaterFront Promenade. Night view was breathtaking and while waiting for the show to start….we went crazy from fatigue. Btw, the weather was HOT.
We went to scout for The Sweet Dynasty for desserts and food. Yep. Hungry from all the walking. It’s opposite Marco Polo Hotel and you have to walk to the end of the street before you can spot it.

Address: Ground Floor, 100 Canton Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
Headed to Temple Street at Yau Ma Tei Station coz Siti wanted to go tarot card reading. The whole street was lined with small fortune telling stalls. Interesting. Never believed in Fortune Telling. Our fate lies in our own hands. That’s my motto. Life is what you make it out to be. So, can go reading for fun, but take it with a pinch of salt please. Me and ahmad very efficiently translated what the fortune teller said in Cantonese to Mandarin to maria. We were amazed at our linguistic ability..hahahah.. but speaking wise, we gotta ganbatte la. Haha.
It was 2am when we reached our hotel. Tired but still abit hyper from the walking.
As if we weren’t tired enough, Murphy came along. I couldn’t open my luggage. Somehow the combination lock didn’t work. Shit. Nan de!! Used our bull’s strength to pry open one side of the lock using maria’s super eyebrow tweezer which gave me enough space to dig out my clothings.
Officially concussed at 3am.
